Hi!

This is the first post, welcome to the first post, this is the first post of A Year In Reviews.

Hi, my name is JackiAnne and I'll be your tour guide on A Year In Reviews. This is (or very shortly will be) the year 2010 and I have decided, thanks to this post on Romancing the Blog, to keep a running count of all the books I read in the coming year. However, not only will I keep count, I will also post reviews of the books I read.

I read a number of different genre so you'll find a wide range of authors from Michael Connelly, John Sandford, Michael Robotham, Stephen King and Stuart Woods to Nora Roberts, Jayne Ann Krentz, Kay Hooper, Karen M. Moning and Christine Feehan (and soooo many others in between). I've been trying this past year to expand my "stable of authors" as it were, to read authors I've never heard of before (T.L. Hines is a new fave) and start stretching my boundaries.

I'm an author (as yet unpublished) and one piece of "new author" advice I keep hearing is to read, read, read and write, write, write (okay, that's two pieces, but they're always said together). This blog will be about what I read in 2010.

I'm going to try my best to post about every book I read, even if it's only a few lines. Over the next three days, with New Year's Eve being the deadline, I will transfer over the four reviews I've written on my other blog, Virginia Girl, to this blog, just to get it going. There will be a book count widget that I will update with every new book read. And I will post links to the various author sites and links to where you can buy their books on Amazon. (Mainly because I really like Amazon. You can buy from B&N, BAM or your local store...it's your money, it's your choice!)

Please note that most of the books I'll review are not new releases. Some will be, as I tend to grab the latest releases by my absolute favorite authors, but for the most part, the books will be older releases that I've picked up at used book stores or book sales. I love discovering new-to-me authors and going back to read their earlier works, so if you are intrigued by one of my reviews, you may have to do a little shopping around to find the book (if you don't want to use the link I'll provide).

If there's anything else you'd like to see, let me know and I'll do what I can for you.

The blog will be updated when I finish a book, so don't expect daily updates because I can't read that fast! But updates should come at least weekly. I've been known to read up to three books at a time and I'm a big fan of audio books, so updates should be pretty frequent. For example, I'm listening to one book right now and reading another. I should be done with both by New Year's Day so I can start January 1 with a fresh slate.

I'll also share any reading/writing news that I come across that I think might be of interest.

Like this. You can scour the Kindle List at Amazon.com and "buy" books for $0.00! That's right, $0.00! And you don't need a Kindle to read them. If you have a computer, and it's likely you do since you're reading this post, you can download free (yep, $0.00 again) software to your computer that will allow you to read Kindle books on your computer. If you have an iPhone or iTouch, yep, there's an app for that. Granted, there are a lot of classics, like Frankenstein, Dracula, The Picture of Dorian Grey, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Sense and Sensibility (without the Sea Monsters)...you get the idea. But there are a lot of current authors on the list too. So click on the link, read the article, then head over to Amazon and grab your free books before Amazon changes its mind.

So thanks for reading. Be sure to come on back in a couple days and check out my reviews!
